Hello Everybody!
My name is Billy (or you can call me Billy Boy!) and I’m a darling, gentle and calm bichon mix of about one and a half (years that is) who is brimming with fun, full of love, friendly and as happy as can be. My foster Mom says I’m a “bona fide people pup” who loves everyone I meet instantly. You might also call me a meeter-and-greeter kind of pup or a ‘Take me to Starbucks’ kind of guy.
When I came into rescue I had a lot of hair that was tangled and twisted. The groomer said the kindest thing to do was to shave it off and let my new hair grow in nice and soft and white. And that’s what it’s doing, other than my ears which are tipped with grey and tan. When my hair grows all the way in Mom says I’ll be one handsome dude. (Aw, thanks Mom.)
Did I mention that I’m a pup who entertains himself — and does that very well. Toys are simply the best things in the world and I truly enjoy them (as you can tell from my photos.) And if my human wants to play a game like keep away, that’s really fun for me too. Otherwise I’m happy to have my toys all to myself.
Dad says there are a lot of cute things about me. For example, I like to watch TV. And if there are dogs on the TV why that is even better! I watch them carefully making sure that I understand what they are doing. Dad says that shows how I well- mannered I am! Another example of that is when I sit patiently and wait for my treats. My doggy foster brother and sister get theirs first but I know I will get my turn so I wait quietly and show my best manners.
Now I do have this one “trick” that surprised Mom and Dad. It’s actually what my Aunties call ‘an ability’ or maybe they mean ‘an agility’. You see when I know Mom or Dad is thinking of sitting down on the couch, I manage to launch myself so that I “arrive” in their laps by the time they “land” on the couch. (They laugh and think that’s pretty amazing!) I’m not a big guy by any means but I’m certainly very agile!
I’m also a good listener and not a barker! I’m learning commands and come when I’m called (Mom says that’s a good thing as some FurKids don’t do that.) She thinks I could be a great therapy dog once I know more commands because I’m so into people. And in my own quiet and gentle way I’m also pretty fearless and confident.
Being a Bichon means I love my walks (I do really well and walk fast so if you want to get in steps I’m your guy!) love to ride in the car, watching everything that’s going on, am a good listener and not a barker! I’m learning commands and come when I’m called (Mom says that’s a good thing as some FurKids don’t do that.) And with the two pups in my foster home, a senior gent and a little shy and somewhat fearful female, I’m respectful and happy to be around them –but we don’t play often at all.
