Hello New Friends!

I’m Marvelous and Magnificent Maddie, an eight-year-old Bichon girl who is happy, lovable, kind, loyal, and, did I mention, very good at making people fall in love with me? Mom says I have a special way of looking right into your eyes and communicating exactly what I want. 

Dad says I’m a beautiful, fluffy girl who stands 15 inches tall and weighs 26 pounds. (My previous owner may have forgotten to feed me—or fed me twice—and skipped my walks too. Dear me!) I’m now working on losing 5 or 6 pounds so I can return to my slim, trim former self. With measured meals and regular walks, I’m well on my way. Happily, I LOVE walking, so I think we have an excellent plan!

Now, let me tell you about my signature move. (Mom says it works every time – and Dad agrees!) I sit ever so politely, look straight into your eyes, and wag my tail so fast it practically becomes a blur. Then I add a little tongue action, over and over, just to make sure you get the message. “Hello, People! Have you noticed what a good girl I am? Because I think a treat might be in order!” Mom says I’m absolutely irresistible. I say that’s just good communication skills!

I’m a social butterfly, too! I love people, I’m friendly and curious when meeting other dogs, and I get along with everyone I’ve met. New places and new situations? No problem! I’m an easygoing girl who takes things in stride. I’ve met children around the neighborhood, and I’m calm and relaxed around them. I don’t get nervous or make a fuss; I simply say, “Hello, little people!” and carry on with my day. A home with respectful older children could be lovely.

I’m also a very good passenger. On long car rides, I’m calm, happy, and usually catching up on my beauty sleep. On shorter trips, I like to sit up and watch the world go by. (A girl needs to keep up with the neighborhood news, you know!) And when we get home, I’m ready to follow my favorite person from room to room. I’m your devoted little shadow, and I’ll admit that the kitchen is my favorite room in the house. Funny how I always seem to end up there!

Dad says I’m fully housebroken, with no accidents, and I know my “Sit” and “Stay” commands. I’m eager to learn more, especially when treats are involved. Mom says I’m very food motivated. I prefer to think of myself as a girl who appreciates a little positive reinforcement. After all, why work for free when there might be a treat?

I have a moderate activity level. I enjoy walks, exploring the yard, and spending time with my people, but I’m also perfectly happy to curl up for a nice, long nap. I rarely bark, so I’m not the neighborhood alarm system. I’m more of a quiet companion who prefers to communicate with my eyes, my tail, and my little tongue.

I’m in good overall health (my bloodwork came back perfect). I’ll need my new family to keep me on a healthy eating and walking routine. I’m counting on them to be sensible about treats too!

There’s one more important thing you should know about me. I’m a true companion, and happiest when my people are nearby. I would love a home where someone is around much of the day. I don’t need you to entertain me -just let me be part of your day, follow you around a little, share some cuddles, take our walks, and remind you that you’re loved. (I’m VERY good at that last part!)

My Ideal Home:

• Someone home much of the day 
• A loving family or person who enjoys walks and cuddles
• A home with respectful older children would be fine
• Since I get along well with dogs another pup is fine- however I am used to being ‘an only’

Experience Level:

• Someone who understands that a girl like me thrives on companionship, kindness, and a little positive reinforcement
• A family ready to help me stay healthy while still enjoying the occasional well-earned treat!

I’m a happy, easygoing, affectionate girl who is ready to bring a whole lot of love into someone’s life. I’ll greet you with my ever-wagging tail, look into your eyes as if you’re the most important person in the world, and follow you from room to room just to make sure we don’t miss any opportunities to be together. (And if you happen to be going into the kitchen, I’ll be right behind you. You know, just in case!)

Mom says I’m the kind of girl who makes a house feel more like home. I’m not looking for a grand adventure or a busy social calendar. I’m looking for my person—someone to love, someone to trust, and share the moments that make life special.
