Snowy

May 21, 2022 by Deb Gibb

Hello World!

I’m Snowy and you may have already heard about me as I have legions of fans and I’m a survivor.

I’m a darling little bichon of about 16 months who weighs 12 pounds. Mom says I’m a happy, loving little cuddlebug who loves life and people – and I’m also a spirited, playful pup with a lot of life ahead of me!

When I was born I had this problem called a “liver shunt.” It made me very sick and weak so my family decided to bring me to a shelter and get a healthier puppy instead. I was on the list to cross the Rainbow Bridge when my BFK Aunties swooped in and rescued me. It turns out I could live a wonderful life if I had this very special operation. There are only five veterinarians in the country that can do this operation but we are lucky that one of them is in San Diego.

My Aunties started a fundraiser and guess what! So many amazing people (my beloved fans) raised enough money for me to get the surgery to fix my liver! To make a long story short, I got a second chance at life as a completely healthy, happy go lucky pup! I am even eating normal doggie food now and life is good!

Mom says that wherever I go people stop to ask her about me. That’s because not only am I dashing, but also the sweetest little lovebug you can meet. I thrive on love and belly rubs, and more belly rubs. I can’t get enough of them! And you’ll love giving them!

I adore car rides and food and treats and walks. And children- they love me! If we encounter them on a walk, it turns into a play date! I’m good with other dogs and not an attention hog (like some of the others in my foster home!) I’m almost potty trained, but since I’m still a puppy my human will have to be patient and consistent. I rarely bark and rarely beg. That would be such bad manners!

There are so many, many ways in which I’m special! My Aunties says I’m the best little FurkKid you could ever ask for. I’m sweet and happy and devoted to my people and healthy thanks to my wonderful friends who I’ll never, ever forget!

My Ideal Home:

  • Someone home most of the time
  • Another active, playful dog around my age
  • Another dog to show me the ropes
  • A family to love

Experience Level:

  • Have had dogs as an adult
  • Recent/current dog experience

So if you’re looking to expand your pack, I’d love the opportunity to interview for the position!

Hugs and kisses,

Sensational and Spectacular Snowy, your BFKF (best FuKid forver)

Petey

May 21, 2022 by Deb Gibb

Hello Friends!

My name is Precious Petey and, as you can probably see, I’m a very handsome boy — but not your ‘average’ bichon. I’m actually a very handsome, mellow and sweet little poodle, 12 pounds of love and affection in a very cute body.

I’m about six or seven years old and I’m quite the looker. I have beautiful black hair with white paws and a white tip on my tail. I also have white hair around my nose and mouth– and on my chest as well. But there’s more to me than just a pretty face! You see I’m a gentle, mellow little guy with eyes that look into your heart and soul with love and affection. Mom says I’m respectful, adoring and friendly with everyone I meet. Sometimes I’m a bit shy when I first meet someone new but in no time at all we become friends. Dad says it’s the sweet way that I approach you and ask to be loved that will touch your heart.

I like other dogs, and they like me, but I’m more into my special people! I will come up to you for a gentle pet or sit with you and cuddle. If you want a companion to share your days and nights, look no further as I’m applying for that job. You will not find anyone who is more loving or appreciative of the time we spend together.

I love to go on walks and rides in the car and am happy to find a lap to crawl into as well. Dad says I’m an incredible lap dog — and that I do my best to snuggle as close as possible. All I have to do is look at him with my big brown eyes, and presto, I’m there: ready, willing and able to cuddle for as long as he would like. I also like to snuggle with my mom when I can but she usually has other fluffs on her lap so I don’t compete.

Did I mention that I’m housebroken and sleep quietly in my crate at night? (Mom’s happy about that but knows I would love to sleep in the Big People’s Bed– and would be a quiet little buddy all through the night). I also know how to “sit” and am working on learning other commands too.

My Ideal Home:

  • Someone home most of the time
  • A person or couple looking for a best friend
  • Adults or a family would be great!

Experience Level:

  • Have had dogs as an adult
  • Recent/current dog experience a plus!

If you are looking for a happy, cuddly, adorable, handsome and friendly guy who likes to be where you are and is sweet, gentle and very mellow then please ask for me. I can’t wait to meet you.

Tail wags and soft kisses,

Personable and Precious Petey

Archie

May 14, 2022 by Deb Gibb

Hello World!

My name is Archie and I’m a sweet, family-loving and good natured little puppy of six months – about 13 pounds of love with a great personality and a happy smile – a darling little guy who gets along with everyone! I have a cream colored coat, apricot colored ears, hair (not fur) and am a mix of cocker spaniel, dachshund and cuteness.

I love people of all shapes and sizes, and especially when they pay attention to ME! I come running with joy when any person appears on the horizon, then I give lots of doggy kisses and become a cuddling fool! Nothing makes me happier than that – that, and playing with other FurKids!

Mom says that I am as sweet as can be and a real cuddle bug. (Silly Mom, I’m not a bug at all, just a furkid full of love for everyone I meet.) Dad says I’m a diamond in the rough and a little guy with great potential! (Thanks, Dad!)

My doggy foster sisters and brothers are teaching me how to play and to be respectful of something they call ‘boundaries’ (I think that means I need to understand when they want to play and when they want to rest!) We have so much fun together! Toys, and ‘specially squeaky toys, are already my favorites, along with things to chew like yak bones. Why I never met a toy I didn’t like, either! And when I get tired, I curl up like the sweet little guy I am and take a nap. Mom says that makes the cutest picture!

I know you will know how smart I am when I tell you I’m already housebroken (although I haven’t broken a thing!) ride happily in the car and am ready to go for walks. At night, when all the excitement and fun of the day is over, I curl up and sleep quietly in my crate.

My Ideal Home:

  • Someone home most of the time
  • Another active, playful dog around my age
  • Another dog to show me the ropes
  • A family with kids around 5 or older would be great!

Experience Level:

  • Have had dogs as an adult
  • Recent/current dog experience
  • Appreciate puppy energy

Of course, being just a young pup, I have lots to learn, and I’m looking for a forever family to learn with me. Mom and Dad think that I would do great in any family situation. If I sound like the kind of boy you are looking for, please complete our adoption application at https://bichonfurkids.org/adoption/ and we will get back to you. Please also note that if you do not meet the criteria for my forever home, you will not hear back from us. (Sorry. We are all volunteers and have other FurKids to save and place, too. Thanks for understanding!).

Wags and hugs,

Adorable, Affectionate and Affable Archie

Vivi

Hello People!

My name is Vivi and I’m a sweet and quite sassy little girl of five looking for a forever home. My foster Mom says I’m very loving and affectionate — and as feminine as they come. I’m all of 12 pounds, am housebroken (and use the doggy door) and I love my crate. I even put myself to bed at night if I’m tired (but Mom lets me come into the Big People’s Bed in the morning for a cuddle or two or three!)

Dad says I’m a diamond in the rough. He and Mom are doing their best to teach me the proper way to behave in the world. I’m definitely making progress but will need to continue my ‘learning’ with someone who is a super smart and VERY savvy dog person. If that sounds like you, please read on!

While I am long on (good) looks and cute as can be, I’m also pretty willful. I like to do what I like to do (which is why I need someone who is smarter than I am and will guide me into perfect behaviors.)

I walk well on a leash and am learning to relax in the car. I do best on short drives and like to listen to music.

I do love to cuddle and am known for springing up into your lap to cuddle at the slightest provocation and wanting you to pet my head ( but only my head, please!). If you are lying on the sofa, I love to roll on top of you and make cute little “snorty” noises as I turn around.

Unfortunately I’m not a pup that is good around children. If you have children or grandchildren that visit I’m not the one for you. Sorry! I’m an ‘adults-only’ kind of pup. Mom says before I became a FurKid I was adopted simply because I am cute. So I formed some bad habits that she is helping me to overcome. Since I’m smart, I’m definitely learning what to do and not do.

I’m also a bit selective about making friends. I bark when people come to the door (Dad says I’m a great watchdog) but when I know someone, I’m much friendlier. I also guard my toys, which is why I’m best as the only pup in the house.

My Ideal Home:

  • Someone home most of the time
  • NO other FurKids — as I like to be the center of attention
  • Adults only
  • No children or grandchildren
  • Committed to training me

Experience Level:

  • Recent dog experience a must!
  • Rescue dog experience a plus!
  • Experience with behavioral training a real plus!

Because I wasn’t successful in my ‘past life’ I’m hoping to make up for lost time – and am looking for adopters who will appreciate my femininity and my affectionate nature – and will continue to work on my training so I can become the best little girl that I can be. Mom says there is no doubt that I’m well worth the effort but you have to know my signals so that I can be successful.

If I sound like the pup you are looking for please let us know. It will be a very special home to which I am adopted as I’m a very special kind of pup. If that sounds like you, please send an email explaining your experience and background to bfkapplicants@gmail.com If you sound like you represent a fit, we will be back in touch.

Tail wags and cuddles,

Vivacious, Intelligent and Very Independent Vivi
