Fostered in San Diego
***
Hi New Friends,
My name is Nice-as-they-Come Nicky, and I’m a very happy, handsome, and oh-so-affectionate 15-month-old Bichon boy who is discovering that LIFE is pretty wonderful! I’m 16 pounds of cuteness with a tail that looks just like someone dipped it in a little pot of paint! (I think it’s a fashion statement.)
My foster Mom says there are SO many cute things about me that she hardly knows where to begin. For starters, when I lie down, I don’t just lie down—I SPLAT! My back legs go straight out behind me and I look pretty darn adorable. And when I run…oh boy, do I run! I have a little body, biggish feet, and when I get excited I practically gallop. I’ve recently discovered toys, am learning to play fetch, and watching me gallop back with a toy in my mouth is ridiculously adorable. (I think “ridiculously adorable” is a compliment!)

When I’m really happy, I roll around on my back and wiggle and squirm with complete abandon. And my tail tells you exactly how I’m feeling. When I’m happy, it curls straight up into a big “C.” That little painted-looking tip just makes it look even cuter!
I LOVE my people, and I love being close to them. I’m a professional face-kisser (sometimes with a few tiny little nibbles mixed in), and tummy rubs and head rubs are definitely on my list of favorite things. When we’re on the sofa, I’ll curl up right next to Mom with my head in her lap—or sometimes I’ll just drape my entire little body across her lap. (Why use a lap partially when you can use the WHOLE lap?)
I’m also a wonderful little shadow. I can be sound asleep and perfectly comfortable, but the second Mom gets up or walks past me, my eyes pop open, and I’m right behind her to see where she’s going. I don’t want to miss anything!
But I don’t need to be entertained every second. I’m also an observer. I enjoy sitting in the windowsill watching the world go by, or relaxing in my bed while I supervise everything happening around the house. I can be a playful puppy one minute and a calm, chill little guy the next. I even like lounging on the sofa with my family and watching TV!
I LOVE to run and I’m great on walks. I’m also great in the car. I’m a happy, relaxed little passenger and would love to be your adventure buddy. Just say “Car ride!” and I’m ready to go!
Dad says I’m a very clever boy, too. I’m curious, determined, and resourceful, and pretty good at figuring things out for myself. If I want a toy, chew stick, or bone, I’ll go looking for one and happily entertain myself.
I’m making good progress with my house training, too. I just need someone who will keep me on a regular schedule and give me lots of opportunities to get it right. I know I can do this!

I already know “sit,” I come when I’m called, and I learned very quickly that my name is Nicky. Mom says I’m eager to learn, and with consistency and positive reinforcement, I’m showing that I can pick up new things quickly.
I’m good with other dogs and also very good with cats. I’m still a little cautious with people I don’t know, but once I feel safe and have a chance to get acquainted, I’m very affectionate. On walks I’m comfortable seeing strangers and will sometimes stop and watch them for a moment before continuing on my way.
I have food. I have toys. I have soft beds and blankets. I have people who care about me. And most importantly, I have LOVE. I crave affection and connection with my people, and I genuinely appreciate all the little comforts of being someone’s beloved dog. Watching me discover that I’m safe, cared for, and don’t have to worry about where my next meal or cozy bed will come from has been pretty amazing.

So if you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, clever, and curious young Bichon who is a little adventurer and a big lover, can keep up with you but is also perfectly happy to curl up beside you, let’s meet! I promise, I’m worth it.
Tail wags, happy “C” tails, and lots of Bichon kisses,
Nifty, Naughty-in-the-Cutest-Way and Not-to-Be-Missed Nicky
