Hello New Friends,
I’m a darling little fluffy female pup named Maisie! I’m a little over one year old, tip the scales at less than 9 pounds, have the cutest floppy ears and the biggest puppy-dog eyes you’ve ever seen. (At least that’s what my foster family tells me…and I think they may be right!)

Mom says I have enough love and affection tucked inside my little body to last a lifetime. I absolutely adore people and am happiest when I’m close to my humans, soaking up pets, cuddles, and kind words. I’m also a playful little girl who loves a good game of tag or wrestling with my doggy foster sister, Ruby. I started following her around almost from the moment I arrived and she has become my bestest friend. Ruby has been showing me how “being a family dog” works, and I’ve decided it’s pretty wonderful!
You see, I hadn’t experienced much of the world before becoming a FurKid. Lots of things are new to me, and most of them are amazing and wonderful – like being loved, getting to go on rides, having dogs and people to play with, sunbathing outside – you get the idea. But sometimes new experiences are a tiny bit scary. A curtain blowing in the breeze? Hmm…better investigate. The wind making funny noises? Some reassurance, please. Fireworks? Well, I think we can all agree those are suspicious!
The good news is that I’m an incredibly fast learner. Grandma says I watch my people and Ruby very carefully (to figure out whether something is safe). Once I realize everything is okay, my confidence grows by leaps and bounds. Mom says I’m amazingly willing to learn– and every day I become more brave and confident than the day before.
I’ve already mastered one very important life skill—I learned how to use the doggie door in just two days! Now I happily head out to the backyard to do my business like a big girl. I still appreciate a gentle reminder first thing in the morning, but with consistency and repetition, I’ll have perfected the whole potty routine. (After all, I have a reputation to maintain!)

Car rides were new to me and initially made me a bit nervous. After watching Ruby calmly relax in her seat, however, I decided car rides weren’t so scary after all. Now I ride beautifully and am ready to see where our next adventure takes us!
Walks are another thing I’m figuring out. Right now I’m so much more interested in sniffing absolutely EVERYTHING than walking in a straight line. (There are so many fascinating smells out there!) Mom is helping me learn, and since I love trying new things, she is confident I’ll be strutting along like a pro before long.
Of course one of my super powers is that I’m friendly with everyone I meet—adults, children, and other dogs—and I greet any new friend like we’ve known each other forever. My tail wags as if to say that everyone deserves a happy welcome!
At bedtime, I sleep nicely in my crate. Knowing my people and Ruby are nearby—helps me to settle into a peaceful nighttime sleep.

Marvelous Miss Maisie
