Fostered in San Diego
****
Hello World,
My name is Mischievous Mochi, and I’m a handsome little guy between 3 and 5 (years that is) who weighs about 17 pounds. My foster mom says I have a big personality packed into my fluffy white body, and I think that’s a pretty accurate description!
Before I tell you anything else, you should know that I am quite the charmer. When I want a treat, I have a special look I give with my eyes half-closed that seems to convince humans that sharing a little something from the kitchen is an excellent idea. I also like to “talk” while my meals are being prepared, making little sounds to remind everyone that dinner simply cannot happen fast enough. And if you rub my belly? Oh my goodness! I’ll roll right over, close my eyes, and melt into pure bliss like I’m getting the most wonderful massage in the world.
Mom says I’m a true lover once I’ve decided you are my person. I enjoy being held, cuddled, and spending time close to the people I trust. I ride beautifully in the car and am always happy to relax and enjoy the journey. I also have a moderate activity level, so I enjoy my walks and some time in the yard, but I’m not looking to run a marathon anytime soon.

Now, I want to be honest about something important. I’m still working on feeling comfortable around new people and unfamiliar dogs. Sometimes when I get nervous or unsure, I react in ways that aren’t my best. Mom and my trainer think I may be trying to protect myself —or that I may try to take charge when I don’t know what to do. Because of this, I need an experienced, patient adopter who understands that earning my trust is worth the effort and will be the greatest reward… because once I know and trust you, though, my sweet and affectionate side really shines through.
I’m still polishing up my house-training skills and know how to use a doggie door, but occasionally forget the rules. The good news is that I do very well in my crate, sleep quietly through the night, and am always excited to see my people when they come home.
My Ideal Home:
*A dog-savvy dog lover who will maintain a structured routine
*Someone home most of the time
*Another dog to show me the ropes and keep me company is helpful
*Adults or a family with older children
Experience level:
*Have had dogs as an adult
*Recent/current dog experience
*Rescue dog experience a plus!
My BFK Aunties say one of the things that makes me special is that beneath my tough-guy moments is a sweet pup who truly wants to love and be loved. I just need people willing to help me feel safe, understood, and secure. In return, you’ll get a loyal companion with a silly sense of humor, an adorable belly-rub addiction, and a face that can persuade almost anyone to hand over an extra treat.
Could you be the special person I’ve been waiting for?
Tail wags and more,
Mischievous and Mannerly Mochi
