Fostered in San Diego

Hello World,
We are Monty and Mikey, a bonded pair of two-year-old fluffs, and the best of friends. We weigh about 9 and 10 pounds, respectively–and together make one very big heart.
Our foster mom says we are curious, sweet, and gentle… and just a tiny bit shy, as we’re still learning how to be brave and navigate this big world. Before we became FurKids, we didn’t have a normal “pet life,” but are discovering more every day—and really want to love and be loved!
As for me, I’m Monty, and I’m a bit more of the ‘take charge’ kind of boy — at least Mikey thinks I am. While I might hang back at first if you come towards me, if you sit down and give me a moment, I’ll come right over, hop up next to you, and quietly ask for pets. I love following my humans around as well as soaking up the sunshine outside. Sometimes I even zoom around the yard with the wind in my hair and a smile on my face. Oh—and I’ve been told I have the cutest little underbite ever! And black eyes with a black nose to match!
As for my slightly littler brother Mikey, well, he likes to follow me everywhere (I’m his security blanket. Oh, silly me! I’m not a blanket at all – I’m his brother!), but he also keeps a close eye on his humans because he wants to be part of whatever they’re doing. He’s a curious little guy, with a light colored nose, who sometimes gets playful bursts of energy and runs around like he’s on a mission. Mikey also has a very important job in our foster family—if you leave socks, shoes, or clothes on the floor, he will “relocate” them for you. He does that job very well and quite happily. (He says you’re welcome).

We truly do everything together. You’ll almost always find us curled up in a fluffy little pile, touching and leaning on each other. We help each other feel safe and take care of one another. I’ve even been known to clean Mikey’s ears (Mom says “yuck,” but we say a way of showing love).
We’re both almost fully house-trained (and we know how to use the doggy door!) and have lovely indoor manners. We don’t bark much, can sleep quietly in our crate (but prefer to sleep in the Big People’s bed), and are happiest when we’re near our people.
We get along well with adults and visitors, and, while we may be a little shy at first, we warm up with patience and kindness. We’re still building confidence and making progress every single day.
Our Ideal Home:
- Someone who is home most of the time
- A patient, loving family who will help us continue to build confidence
- A calm environment where we can feel safe and secure
- A nice backyard to explore
Experience:
- Previous experience with a shy dog is a plus
- Rescue dog experience is a plus
Since we’re a ‘packaged deal’ and truly depend on each other, we must be adopted together. Dad calls us the “adorable portables” and it’s true! And while we may not be the kind of pups who rush up to you initially, if you give us a little time, you’ll find that we are two incredibly sweet, loyal, and loving companions who will always be close by (and usually touching).
Snuggles and tail wags,
Mannerly Monty & Mischievous Mikey
