My name is Sammi, and if you’re looking for a dog with spirit, smarts, and a little bit of silliness, I might be your girl. I’m a 2-year-old Maltese mix, about 20 pounds, with a tan coat and an energy level that keeps life interesting. My foster mom says I’m equal parts playful goofball and loyal shadow. Whether I’m zooming around the yard, wrestling with myself on the couch while making ridiculous growly noises, or snoozing right at her feet while she works, I’m happiest when life is active and I’m close to my person.
I love toys, especially squeaky ones, and will happily chase, pounce, and toss them in the air. I also eagerly track squirrels, lizards, and anything that moves. With kids, I’m gentle and curious, and I bonded quickly with my foster family’s children (though I may try to “borrow” their stuffed animals for my toy collection).
I would love a home with another playful dog.
On walks, I can be reactive toward other dogs and sometimes people, so I’ll need someone patient and committed to training me on my leash manners and helping me feel more confident in those situations.
I’m healthy, very food- and toy-motivated, and full of potential—but I’m still working on some house manners. I’m just about housebroken, and my foster is now able to interpret my cues when it’s time to go out. I like to chew on paper or climb onto tables if left to my own devices. With structure, training, and consistency, I’ll be an amazing companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and is ready to help me shine.
