Fostered in San Diego

Hello New Friends!
I’m Skippy, an 11-month-old playful little guy with soulful eyes, feathery eyebrows, and the happiest heart you could imagine. I’m a King Charles Cavalier/Poodle mix who weighs about 15 pounds, has adorable brown-and-white markings, and—just so you know—believe that life is meant to be FUN.
My foster family says I’m sweet, goofy, affectionate, playful, and always ready for an adventure. Personally, I think they forgot “ridiculously charming” (but I’ll forgive them.)
One of my favorite hobbies is entertaining myself. I do that by what the family calls ‘playing with my toys.’ I can toss my ball in the air, roll around on my back, and play an entire game all by myself (if necessary, that is.) My foster mom says I’m hilarious to watch. I also happen to LOVE ice cubes. In fact, the second I hear the freezer drawer open, I come racing around the corner as fast as my little legs can carry me because maybe—just maybe—someone is handing out the crunchy frozen treasures called ice cubes. Yes indeed! That’s what puts me in my happy place!
And speaking of my legs, I should mention that I’m a special little tripod of a boy! When I was only about four months old, something happened (Mom and Dad don’t know what it was, as that was before I was rescued), but I had to have my back leg removed. I was very good and, honestly, it hasn’t slowed me down at all. I run, play, cuddle, explore, and zoom around just like any other happy pup. Sometimes I need a little boost for big jumps or getting into my car seat, but otherwise I’m busy living my best life.
I absolutely adore people — especially kids! I’m gentle and loving with my foster sister of 4 (years that is), and I happily play fetch with her, bring toys back, and soak up attention. I’ve even been very patient when those little humans called children accidentally get a bit too enthusiastic with me. My Foster Dad says I have a wonderful temperament and a very sensitive, loving soul.
I’m also great with other dogs and would probably LOVE having a playful canine buddy in my forever home. I do bark sometimes when meeting strangers or seeing other dogs on leash (Mom says I’m always ready to play!) I then say hello, am friendly, and happy. I need continued socialization and leash training because some things in the world are still new to me. (For example, parking cones are suspicious until proven otherwise.)
The good news is that I’m smart and eager to learn! I already know commands like sit, down, stay, and come (well… selectively on the last one). I attended and graduated from obedience school and, according to my Foster Dad, I may have been the best student in class. I don’t like to brag… but if there were awards for “Most Adorable While Learning,” I probably won those too.
I’m housebroken, ride beautifully in the car, and love going along for adventures. Most mornings I even do ‘school drop-off rides’ and curl up happily in my doggy car seat.

I may have had a rough start early in life, but I’m resilient, joyful, and FULL of love. All I really want is a family to adore, toys to toss around, and a few ice cubes to enjoy as the weather gets warm.
Tail wags and zoomies,
Sensational and Sociable Skippy
