Hello New Friends,

My name is Cary Grant – and I was named that as I will be quite the handsome fella when my hair grows in. According to everyone who meets me though I am a loving and happy Bichon mix of about seven or eight who, like my namesake, is a man of the world. Mom says I’m the biggest sweetheart she has ever met- and that I’m very, very special! I’m quiet, tiny (12 pounds), gentle, calm and easily amused. I love all people and animals and have no fear of anything. Mom calls me the Perfect Pet!

I’m already housebroken, ride calmly in the car and love when I get to sprawl out on the big bed at night. In fact, I like to sleep on the pillow next to my Mom. (She says I think I’m human!) I suppose I should mention that I am, of course, housebroken, and love all the things that Bichons, and most other dogs, do: rides, treats, cuddles, and naps. I learn fast and am very smart!

My foster Mom says I am also being too modest. She says I am lovable, sweet natured, friendly, happy, gentle and mellow. I don’t growl or bark and love my walks! The longer, the better. If you are looking for a companion to get some attention and exercise, then I’m your boy! And in return for all those good things I will shower you with love and affection.

Cheerful, Calm and Charming Cary

Hello World,

My name is Rollicking and Resilient Rylee and I’m a little (12 pound) two year old bichi-poo (Gesundheit!) female. (In case you don’t know that term, it means I’m a mix of a bichon and poodle.) Mom says I’m quite the Velcro pup, a wonderful companion and a major cuddlebug. And, according to my Dad, I’m a smart little girl who wants to please and be a big part of your life.

Mon says I know how to do a lot of ‘useful’ things. For example, I mastered the doggy door and know to go outside when I need to ‘do my business’. Even when it’s raining! How’s that for smart? (And how happy that makes Mom and Dad too!) I’ve already learned the command ‘Sit’ and am looking forward to learning more commands, too! And I EXCEL at snuggling and cuddling. Want to read a book or watch a show? Knit, crochet, scrapbook or do a puzzle? Then I’m your bestest companion!

Before I got shaved at the shelter I had long white fluffy hair – in fact it was a bit too long so the shelter took care of that (unfortunately.) Right now my hair is kind of short, so my ribbons fall out, but when my hair gets longer, you’ll see how beautiful I will look. Mom calls me a toasted marshmallow as my hair is white and caramel colored now and has a nice wave to it and I have a bit of an underbite. What’s most noteworthy though are my eyes: they are the windows to a very beautiful soul.

My very favorite thing in the world is to be with my person. Mom says I am an affection-seeking pup who just yearns for attention. I need somebody to give me lots of love – and I give it right back! I’m a sweet and special little girl who is longing to make someone very happy.

Hello World,

My name is Mollie and I’m a happy, playful, energetic, sweet and curious little Bichon girl of one and a half (years that is) and as friendly as I can be. My foster Mom says I’m 11 pounds of love in a very cute package. Dad says I like everyone I meet (especially him!)

Did I mention that I’m a snuggler. I climb into your lap, look at you with my big brown eyes and cuddle for all I’m worth (and that’s a lot!).

Everything is new and interesting to me! I had never been in a yard or walked on the grass before I became a FurKid ! (Honestly, I never had!) . I had never been taught commands or sniffed flowers or gone for a ride (except to the vet.) Now let me explain about that!

I was born with something with a long name that means I’m incontinent.

One of the ‘lines’ from my kidney to my bladder connects with the bladder in the wrong place. The other line from my kidney does not connect to my bladder at all… instead it connects directly to my urethra, which causes me to dribble a bit.

My previous owners couldn’t take care of me –and weren’t even able to walk me. (We were not a good fit) so they surrendered me to my new BFK family. On Friday I went to see these vets called ‘specialists’. They did all kinds of tests, looked at my ultrasound and said they think that a special kind of surgery can help me to become a better version of myself! They aren’t sure that I can be 100% continent but I’ve already mastered the doggy door and so want to be the carefree and happy little bichon I was meant to be!

This special surgery is very expensive. My BFK family hopes that there might be some amazing people who read about me and want to help me get this surgery. Then, after I have recovered, I can be adopted and able to go to my forever home!

So if you can help in any way I would be so very, very grateful. My Aunties will keep you posted on whether we have raised enough money for my surgery and, if I get to have it, how I’m doing afterward. In the meantime please know that I thank you for loving bichons and please say a prayer for Mollie’s miracle.

Hello Everyone,

We are looking for a forever home for Riley. He is a precious and caring 5 year old bichon mix whose family gave him to a neighbor when they were moving – and the neighbor quickly listed him on NextDoor. (Sigh!) For the first years of his life, Riley had a family that appreciated his sweet nature and he was the center of their world. Unfortunately for Riley babies joined the family and he was relegated to living outdoors until a pending move occurred. Although he’s a good sport who has weathered all these changes, Riley lost his home! It is our goal to find the loving and stable home environment that he so deserves!

Riley loves his walks, enjoys the companionship of people and other dogs – and is becoming a more lively little guy already. Riley is in excellent health, housetrained, sleeps quietly in his crate — and is a friendly and loving pup.

A friend of Marti’s has brought Riley temporarily to her home however she has many senior and hospice dogs. Riley is a bit overwhelmed by all of them as he’s a quiet guy not used to all the commotion. She reached out to find a forever home for this sweet, companionship-oriented ‘chunky monkey’.

In our desire to minimize further transitions, we are looking for a couple or family who will foster Riley with the intention of fostering-to-adopt him. In order to do that, BFK needs two completed applications: a foster and an adoption application.

Hello New Friends,

My name is Rooney and I am an 18 month old Maltese mix who is 12 pounds of love in a very cute package. While my hair is a bit wispy and is still growing back in, I’m definitely a ball of white fluff and fun who is definitely a guy on the go! Mom says I’m sweet, devoted, loving, adaptive, resilient, energetic and eager little guy who is eager to learn and to please! (Can you tell she likes me?)

I have this really cute thing I do that both Mom and Dad love to see. It goes like this: I lie on my back and wave my two front legs to get you to pet me. So you pet me… then stop. I keep on waving my legs and looking like a cute little guy who needs to be petted some more… and so you do and I’m one happy fella!

Dad says I’m very smart, TOTALLY housebroken (and that’s not typo!) In fact, I go to the door to let him and Mom know I need to go out. And they are taught me about something called a ‘puppy door’ which I mastered in no time! And when it’s night time I go quietly in to my bed and sleep soundly through the night. (If you get up I follow to make sure you’re okay, then settle back in and wait for you to awaken in the morning.)

I’m a typical young guy who is energetic and lots of fun! I’ve already discovered this thing called riding (in the car) which I LOVE a lot! Then there’s this thing called ‘walking on a leash.’ Well let me tell you that was brand new to me! My doggy foster brother showed me the way and I learned about ‘grass’ and ‘trees’ and ‘shrubs’ and more. Now I LOVE to go for walks –and LOVE to play with new friends! And speaking of love, I LOVE to give kisses – and did I mention that I LOVE everyone I meet? Well I absolutely do! Oh and please remember: I also LOVE my stuffed toys, In fact, I even like to bring them to my bed and sleep with them. That’s how much I love them! (Check out my picture with my stuffies please!

Resilient and Radiant Rooney

Hello Everyone!

My name is Cody and I’m a loving, calm, cuddly and charming bichon of about seven or eight (years old that is), a svelte 13 pounds who excels at being a companion. In fact the “C’ in my name is short for COMPANION. I’m LOYAL in capital letters, LOVING (in a very sweet and adoring way) and a very mellow fellow!

My foster Mom says that I enjoy being with and around people—and that my tail wags and wags with happiness! I have these expressive hazel eyes that dance and when I look at you it’s with total love and appreciation.

Mom says I ‘go along to get along’ and that I am amazingly adaptive! I can adapt to any routine, am housebroken (which Mom says is a very good thing!) and am a very good boy! (As a result I get to sleep in the Big People’s Bed and I love it!)

Speaking of things I love, I LOVE to play fetch (and tug-of-war) with my stuffed bone. Mom and I created this game that goes like this: Mom throws the bone and I run to get it. THEN (drum roll please) I bring it back to her (That’s the amazing part!) so she can throw it again! It’s really a great game and we both really, really enjoy it! Want to play with me too?

I also enjoy racing up and down the yard with my foster doggy siblings, going for walks (long or short!) and rides in the car (anywhere you want to go is fine ‘case I’m quite the companion). My BFK Aunties say that I respond 1000% to human kindness and get along with two and four-legged companions alike. I rarely bark, excel at cuddling and am affectionate with a capital A! It’s true that I appreciate every (good) thing that happens for and to me. It’s true that I appreciate every (good) thing that happens for and to me.

My very favorite thing in the world is to be loved and to give it back. Mom says I am a sweet and happy guy who appreciates attention – but doesn’t demand it. (I especially appreciate all the nice things Mom says about me and how kind she is!) I just need somebody to give me lots of love – and I’ll absolutely positively give it right back!
