Hello New Friends,

My name is Rooney and I am an 18 month old Maltese mix who is 12 pounds of love in a very cute package. While my hair is a bit wispy and is still growing back in, I’m definitely a ball of white fluff and fun who is definitely a guy on the go! Mom says I’m sweet, devoted, loving, adaptive, resilient, energetic and eager little guy who is eager to learn and to please! (Can you tell she likes me?)
I have this really cute thing I do that both Mom and Dad love to see. It goes like this: I lie on my back and wave my two front legs to get you to pet me. So you pet me… then stop. I keep on waving my legs and looking like a cute little guy who needs to be petted some more… and so you do and I’m one happy fella!
Dad says I’m very smart, TOTALLY housebroken (and that’s not typo!) In fact, I go to the door to let him and Mom know I need to go out. And they are taught me about something called a ‘puppy door’ which I mastered in no time! And when it’s night time I go quietly in to my bed and sleep soundly through the night. (If you get up I follow to make sure you’re okay, then settle back in and wait for you to awaken in the morning.)
I’m a typical young guy who is energetic and lots of fun! I’ve already discovered this thing called riding (in the car) which I LOVE a lot! Then there’s this thing called ‘walking on a leash.’ Well let me tell you that was brand new to me! My doggy foster brother showed me the way and I learned about ‘grass’ and ‘trees’ and ‘shrubs’ and more. Now I LOVE to go for walks –and LOVE to play with new friends! And speaking of love, I LOVE to give kisses – and did I mention that I LOVE everyone I meet? Well I absolutely do! Oh and please remember: I also LOVE my stuffed toys, In fact, I even like to bring them to my bed and sleep with them. That’s how much I love them! (Check out my picture with my stuffies please!

My BFK Aunties say that I’m sweet, young, smart, and eager to find my forever “pack”! So if you are an active family or person who likes to go on walks and has another small dog who likes to play, let’s meet. I’m one of those pups called a ‘portable’. You can take me absolutely anywhere.
In the meantime I’m practicing all the things Mom has shown me, getting ready for my forever family and home!
Tail wags and cuddles,
Resilient and Radiant Rooney

LOVING (in a very sweet and adoring way) and a very mellow fellow!
Speaking of things I love, I LOVE to play fetch (and tug-of-war) with my stuffed bone. Mom and I created this game that goes like this: Mom throws the bone and I run to get it. THEN (drum roll please) I bring it back to her (That’s the amazing part!) so she can throw it again! It’s really a great game and we both really, really enjoy it! Want to play with me too?
My Ideal Home:
Unfortunately international business travel for weeks and longer at a time have made it necessary for Charlie to spend too much time at a doggy hotel and the family has a month-long trip coming up on the first of July. Although he’s a good sport at the doggy hotel, we (and they) want Charlie to have a stable home environment without all the time away.
Charlie loves to play hide-and-seek, loves his walks, enjoys the companionship of people and other dogs – and is a lively little guy who is also very patient with young children. Charlie is in excellent health, housetrained, sleeps quietly in his crate — and is a friendly and loving pup.
Charlie’s family wants him to have the kind of life going forward that he has enjoyed in the past and as a cherished family member. They have reached out to Marti to find a forever home. In our desire to minimize further transitions, we are looking for a couple or family, possibly with another smallish bichon or similar, who will foster Charlie with the intention of fostering-to-adopt him. In order to do that, BFK needs two completed applications: a foster and an adoption application.
Precious Evie is current with all shots, has had a recent dental and is spayed. She is in excellent health and is a sweet and somewhat shy little girl who is waiting for a home where she can be a significant part of everyone’s lives once again.

My foster Mom says that I am SUPER SMART and ACTIVE! Now for the ACTIVE part: Mom says I love to play with toys (more on that later) and I love GRASS! Every time I get out in the backyard, I do a little bichon buzz, then roll around in the grass with a big smile on my face. Dad noticed that I also love sniffing different types of flowers on my walks (and I love my walks!). Last but not least is proof of the SUPER SMART part: Mom says I have discovered training treats and when I realized I’d get a treat for going through the doggy door, I started running in and out and in and out every couple of minutes expecting treats each time! She and Dad laughed at how quickly I picked up on what to do and how I also figured out the reward for doing it. (And they are very impressed with me, too!)
Since I became a FurKid I have mastered a lot of new things besides how to play. I love to ride in the car, have already mastered the “sit” command when waiting for food and treats and I’m willing and want to learn more!. I’m also housebroken and not a marker. (Mom says those are really GOOD things!) I walk without pulling on the leash and while I enjoy being in the presence of people and other dogs I don’t need to be entertained constantly (Mom says I can entertain myself!) On the other hand if I can get one of my doggy foster brothers to play with me I love it! When I can’t I find a toy or two or three that I can play with and do so happily. I love rope toys and also those called ‘squeakers’. (The first time a toy squeaked though I was quite and I mean quite surprised!)
Dad says I’m respectful of house rules (and I do not break them ever!) am housebroken (and that’s NOT a typo!) and I am also not a barker. I never bark at anyone or other dogs on our walks or when people walk by the front of the house. Even when my doggy foster brothers bark, I don’t join in on the chaos. (Mom and Dad appreciate that a lot!) And when I need some quiet time I go to my bed or crate and take a nap!

Now I know you want to know how I am with other dogs (I’m fine most of the time — but I’m even better being an ‘only’), I absolutely love playing with my stuffed toy, I think walks are the bestest fun and rides in the car are pretty neat, too! I’m potty trained, know some commands (and like to perform too!) and am so good that I sleep like a baby all night long. Oh and I’m also crate trained, don’t whine, am lovable, lively and very, very smart!
I’m about 8 years old and Mom says I have lots of exuberance. (I’m not exactly sure what she means but she smiles and says I’m a super sweet pup.) Dad says if you rub my neck or ears or give me attention I just about purr. (Silly Dad, Kitties purr, not puppies!) Actually I have this very endearing way of tapping on your arm (gently but relentlessly) so you can stroke me. And once you start to stroke me, I’m very good at getting you to keep doing it. Dad says I’m a master at gaining attention – and I’m such a good guy that I deserve it.
All in all, I’m quite the package and I’m ready to find my forever family. If you love to go on walks and rides (and cuddle!) then I might be ‘the one’ for you. And there is no doubt that I will be the most loyal and loving of companions.
