Hi Everybody!
My name is Lovable Leo and my BFK Aunties want me to introduce myself because I’m a pretty spectacular pup. Now I’m absolutely not bragging (I would never, ever do that) however everyone that meets me says so!
My foster Mom and Dad will tell you that I’m a very handsome and loving mix of either a Bichon and a Doodle or perhaps a Bichon and Cocker Spaniel. Whatever I am, I have silky hair (and a very inquisitive look about me). Mom says I have the softest coat ever and when I cuddle with her it’s like having the coziest blanket wrapped around you. Dad says I’m a character and that I sleep in the oddest positions on the couch or in my bed. Mom and Dad laugh when they see me and wonder how I can be comfortable (but I really am!)
Did I mention that I’m about three years old and cuddle sized at 17 pounds? I’m loyal, attentive, communicative and smart (more on that in a minute) — and eager to please. Although I’m shy initially (please take it slow at first) I’m GREAT with people and children once I get to know them. And I love other dogs, especially ones about my size! I get so excited to see other pups and can’t wait to “engage.”
I absolutely LOVE my walks. When the harness comes out, I’m ready to explore the great outdoors! I’m an excellent walker and stay right by your side on the leash. Long walks are the best, short walks are fine and meeting new canine friends is a treat. Dad has also taken me with him when he runs. I like running as well as walking. And then there’s riding in the car! I love to ride in the car and am a great passenger. I’m also willing to be a co-pilot if you need one.
Besides loving my walks, another of my favorite things in the whole world is to cuddle and hang out -—or take a nap —or play in the yard—or “help” Mom and Dad work. Dad says I’m a great influence! And Mom says I’m happiest when I can be close by!
Now about communication — Mom says I love to communicate. I have a series of cute small barks to let you know I either want something or am excited about something. When I want you to play tug-of-war with my rope, for example, I’ll let you know. After all, I’m a young pup so I’m very playful. I definitely enjoy chewing my stuffed toys.
As for being smart– I mastered the stairs and doggy door very quickly and have already learned several commands. My favorite one is ‘sit’ because I know I’m going to get a treat. Dad says sometimes I sit to let him know that I’m waiting (for a treat, that is, in case he might have one handy.)
Mom and Dad agree that I’m handsome, sweet, attentive, playful and intelligent (Gee, thanks!). I like learning commands — and want to learn more. Want to teach me? I’m a very good student.
After a long day of playing, studying, learning and reading (well I do help Mom and Dad when they are reading!), I sleep quietly all night long, about the most content FurKid you could ever meet.
So if you are looking for a new best friend and are around most of the time, and you have kids for me to play with and love, and maybe another furkid or two, please ask for me as I’m looking for my forever family!
Cuddles and tail wags,
Loveable, Likeable and Loyal Leo

One day, not so very long ago, my ‘original’ mom and dad had to move away – so they told me to be a brave boy and they took me to a shelter. They had me groomed and I looked very handsome – but no one came to get me as the shelter was very far away. I wondered if I would ever have a home of my own again – but I got lucky and became a FurKid. I wasn’t sure about the car ride at first because I didn’t know where I was going. But my foster Mom and Dad are really nice and very kind, so I started to relax.
When I got to my foster home the very best thing happened: there was another FurKid there. And I found a new buddy. His name is Bowie. Mom swears that I ‘talk’ to him – then we both wag our tails. She says that I am always gentle when I play with Bowie (He’s taller and younger than I am) but if you asked Bowie he’d say I’m always gentle and patient no matter what we are doing.
And, according to Mom, I am the bestest and most loyal buddy she has ever known. She says I follow her throughout the house, quietly basking in her company. Then, when it’s dark, I go to the bedroom, walk over to the bed and stare at it – then up at Mom. Since Mom’s smart she figured out that I was asking if it’s time to go to sleep. And when she says yes, then I settle in for the night in the Big People’s Bed without another sound. I am, however, a bit of a bedhog – but a very cute one!

Another thing that makes me extra special is my ability to adapt. You see I’m very social and like everyone I meet. Mom said I’m a kind of social butterfly (but I’m really not a butterfly, silly Mom!) Whether it’s meeting new people on our walks and trips to the store or when friends come over (they are called company) I love being with people. You see they talk to me or pet me then I look into their eyes and presto! it’s love.
I am also a snuggler. I like to snuggle with people – and that there is nothing I would rather do that curl up in your lap and rest my head on your shoulder. Mom says that makes me irresistible. I’m also compassionate. Why when my doggy foster brother was injured I would lie down in the bed and comfort him so he would feel better.
Mom says I also know how to do a lot of ‘useful’ things. For example, I know some commands, walk beautifully on a leash and mastered the doggy door the first day! How’s that for smart? (And how happy that makes mom too! She says I’m such a good girl.)

Did I mention that I LOVE to go for walks (even though I’m little I can walk for a mile and enjoy it!) and I LOVE to go for rides!? Dad says that people approach me because I’m so friendly, cute and calm! And because I’m so little (about nine pounds) you can take me anywhere!
Dad says you may have heard about my story and that I’m somewhat famous. You see, I had these ginormous bladder stones that had to be removed. They weighed more than one pound and that’s really a lot! Well I had that surgery and am happy to say I feel great now! And there is no doubt that I was a trooper through it all! The only needs I have now are to be loved and to spend lots of time with my humans.

My Aunties started a fundraiser and guess what! So many amazing people (my beloved fans) raised enough money for me to get the surgery to fix my liver! To make a long story short, I got a second chance at life as a completely healthy, happy go lucky pup! I am even eating normal doggie food now and life is good!
I adore car rides and food and treats and walks. And children- they love me! If we encounter them on a walk, it turns into a play date! I’m good with other dogs and not an attention hog (like some of the others in my foster home!) I’m almost potty trained, but since I’m still a puppy my human will have to be patient and consistent. I rarely bark and rarely beg. That would be such bad manners!

My BFK Aunties say I am a good listener and a great companion! I like to be wherever Mom is – but I am never intrusive. If I can lie nearby, that is fine. If I can be in a lap… well that is even better!!! Did I mention that I’m a great walker and a great rider (in the car, that is!). I love to go for long walks and short walks. As long as I can be with my person or family I’m very content!
My story is a sad one but I know it will have a happy ending. You see my family moved away and left me in the house by myself. It got dark and I was scared but I thought they would come back for me. A concerned neighbor heard me whimpering and called Auntie Jean. She jumped in her car and brought me home, telling me a terrific guy like me deserves to be in a loving home and that I will have one now that I’m a FurKid!
